First, I received a message from a friend who said her mother still makes a great bread pudding but there was no offer for a tasting and so I may never know how good it is.

Now here’s another comment and my response. As you can see from my response I feel strongly about bread pudding!

“Funny about bread pudding. I was eating lunch weekly at the Gotham Grill about 7 years ago and would order their chocolate bread pudding for dessert. Didn’t taste like any other dish I know, and was delicious. Finally I tried to make it, with disastrous results. Forget if I tried their recipe or someone else’s. There are ingredient issues with bread pudding, as I recall.’

My Response:
DON’T EVER ADD ANYTHING TO BREAD PUDDING, NOT CHOCOLATE, NOT RAISINS
NOTHING- DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND? BREAD PUDDING IS BREAD PUDDING AND
THAT’S THAT.

In thinking over my comment I think raisins are ok to add but not too many, and ok ok some cinnamon on top but not too much.

Here’s a last comment that combines bread pudding and blowing my own horn from an old friend I haven’t heard from since Hector was a pup:

What a fabulous blog! Yes, please put me on your distribution list. You’re a lovely writer with a delightful voice. The blog is a lot of fun to read.
(I’m a big bread pudding devotee, by the way and, like you, eat it at every restaurant I go to that’s got it on the menu. Can’t say I have a
good recipe though.)
