The gingerbread house has been out for a week now. The picture on the left was taken a few days ago showing Rusty Jr. ever at the ready to capture a bird but alas as usual no success. The picture on the right was taken this morning as it has finally been snowing.
Most of the birds that eat the gingerbread house are doves as they are ground feeders and they scatter quickly when humans or cats approach. Now here’s an interesting fact. Mourning doves are hunted in the south and the west but here in New York they are protected as song birds. Maybe that’s why rusty has been cautious about hunting them.
As you can see from the picture the snow hasn’t amounted too much, maybe 3 inches, strange winter.
