There was a great article in the New York Times about firewood in Norway. It is worth reading and tells you how passionate the Norwegians are when it comes to firewood, bark up, bark down, how to cut, how to store. It reminds me of the conversations in the movie Fargo which seemed to go nowhere but in fact were very instructive and pointed. They take their firewood very seriously!
When I was young I worked in construction on an apartment house. There was a Norwegian carpenter working there named Arnold. He was a strong as an ox and bigger than one. When there weren’t five carpenters available the boss said “Just send Arnold over for an hour.” – Job done and right!.
