Monday morning I had to drive over to Pawling to drop off a friend at the railroad station. I arrived in time for the parade on the green. There was a bagpiper who played Amazing Grace and the a buglar playing Taps.
It was very beautiful and struck an emotional chord. My father used to speak at the Memorial Day parade in Millbrook when I was young and I remember there used to be a very old vet who showed up to march in his First World War Doughboy uniform including the helmet. Not many are left that remember that old timer.
