Jerry Garcia played this a few times with David Grisman in 1991-92, and long before that with the Sleepy Hollow Hog Stompers in 1962. The lyrics from the Garcia/Grisman versions are:

Peaches in the summertime
Apples in the fall
If I can’t get the girl I love
I don’t want none at all

Chorus
Shady grove, my little love
Shady grove, I know
Shady grove, my little love
I’m bound for shady grove

This is one of those old time songs that keeps rattling around in my head. I always think of it when the peaches are finished and the apples are still hanging on the trees. This year we had more peaches and apples than we know what to do with. The picture on the left is from one of our Macoun apple trees and the picture on the right is a very old  tree that we don’t prune or spray but has been there from a time long before I was born. Every two or three years it gets enough energy to produce a lot of apples. They are really wormy and too high to pick so I let them drop for the deer and other critters.
