48th Street for as long as anyone alive can remember was the street that had all the music stores. If you were a musician or even a rank amateur you found your way to 48th Street between Broadway and 6th Avenue. They had repair stores, sheet music stores, percussion, strings you name it, you could find it there.
I went by yesterday on the way to my dentist (another subject) and all the stores have closed. It looks like they will be torn down for unneeded apartments or office buildings, sad end to another neighborhood in New York City.
Oh on on the dentist, I again disappointed him, just a cleaning and a set of xrays (first ones in 8 years) show no change. Ok my teeth are crooked but as Jelly Roll Morton said about that bad man in Chicago Aaron Harris, “He could chew up pig iron and spit out razor blades.
