I ran into the publisher of the Millbrook Independent the other day, the only newspaper in Millbrook. Up until last year it was printed and then went on-line. The owner said it was just too much work, no profit, no glory, no writers that wanted to work free, and so he folded the tent.
I on the other hand have never claimed that the Millbrook Times was newsworthy. I interviewed Andy Rooney who was originally from up in Albany and I asked him what he wrote about. I think he said “Oh nothing much, just what comes into my mind.”
So for now the Millbrook Times will stay about the same. I would encourage any local residents to contribute news because I rarely hear anything out here in Clove Valley that is newsworthy. An exception would be an article my nephew, a college professor, found from the late 1930s about FDR reminiscing about coming out to Clove Valley from Hyde Park back in 1910 and running over a farmer’s dog.
